ARCHERY IN LOUISIANA SCHOOLS (ALAS) PROGRAM

The Archery in Louisiana Schools (ALAS) program is Louisiana’s contingent of the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®).   This program introduces students in grades 4-12 to international target style archery as part of their in-school curriculum.

Over 14,400 schools in 47 states participate in the National Archery in the Schools Program.  Last year alone, over 2.4 million students in the U.S. participated in the National Archery in the Schools Program. Currently approximately 165 schools in Louisiana participate in the ALAS program, reaching nearly 20,000 students across the state.

Louisiana is home to the 2016 NASP National Champions in the middle school division, the 2016 NASP/IBO 3-D National Champions in the elementary division, the 2016 NASP World Champions in the middle school division, and the 2016 NASP/IBO 3-D World Champions in the middle school division.

The ALAS/NASP program is available to all schools in Louisiana and grants are available to assist with funding. For more information regarding the ALAS program, please contact NASP State Coordinator Robert Stroede at rstroede@wlf.la.gov or 318-484-2276
